Beating the Holiday Blahs

With a much different holiday season approaching, and with so many of us struggling to manage our mental health with all the social and economic stress brought on by the pandemic, it’s more important than ever to be in touch with ourselves, our loved ones, and any services we may need to lean on to keep us moving forward.

As Dr. Rumeet Billan, of the CMHA put it in her interview with Global news, “When we think about connection, at the core of that, is feelings of belonging. How do we create that community of belonging and feeling of belonging with those that we love and care about?”

We’ve put together a few resources to help you manage your mental health better this holiday season:

  1. Check out Dr. Billan’s full interview on mental health through the holidays (link),

  2. COVID-19 and the holidays: How to help feelings of loneliness and stress this holiday season from Yahoo Canada (link),

  3. Holiday Health Tips For COVID-19 Fatigue from Huffington Post Canada (link) through Associate Editor, Al Donato,

  4. Mental Health Matters: Dealing with holiday grief (link) submitted by Angele D’Alessio, Mental Health Promoter, Canadian Mental Health Association, Champlain East,

  5. And a great infographic from the Canadian Mental Health Association - Ontario Region on holiday survival tips (link).

We have the tools today to see faces in far off places, let’s not lose sight that we can still connect this holiday season. We’re all in this together.
